The James William Clark Papers consist of news clippings, reports, and papers relating to the Transition program, an educational and social program for a limited number of freshmen. The papers also contain brochures and pamphlets relating to the North Carolina Literary Hall of Fame, including the inductions of Guy Owen and Richard Walser. James W. Clark, Jr. (1943- ), was the director of the Humanities Extension at North Carolina State University beginning in 1993 and taught in the English Department beginning in 1967. Clark received his bachelor's degree in English from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill (1965), and his master's degree (1967) and Ph. D. (1970) in English from Duke University.
